Iโd like to thank all the KMFD volunteers, Board, and community volunteers who consistently provide the high level of support for Kings Mountain residents and visitors in 2025.ย The KMFD could not provide this high level of service without the strong community support and involvement that we see consistently throughout the year.
- 2025 Community Service:
- 399 Dispatches/Responses, with an average of 2.9 responders per call:
- 46% of incidents had a medical component
- 20% of incidents had a fire suppression component
- 1.7% of dispatches with no KMFD responses (7 dispatches)
- 60 dispatches were between 10:00 PM โ 6:00 AM (15% of dispatches)
- 5 Public Service demonstrations (e.g. CERT, Boy Scouts, Day Camps)
- 399 Dispatches/Responses, with an average of 2.9 responders per call:
- KMFD Volunteers:

Even though the statistics may seem overwhelming, each KMFD volunteer contributes to the level they are able to, and itโs not too much of an initial time commitment to get someone on-board, initially trained, and contributing to local responses. The KMFD is supporting an upcoming volunteer academy for Firefighters and Medical Responder, and we need your help and support. To be qualified to apply for training and a position with the KMFD, an applicant must:
- live inside the initial response area of the KMFD
- interview with KMFD Officers
- be at least 18 years old
- pass a criminal background checkย
- pass a pre-employment physical exam, drug screening, and cardiac stress test
- For more information, qualification, and training questions, please contact the KMFD Chief.
- Initial Volunteer Medical Responder Training:
- 24 hours of medical/first aid, with the goal of completing an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course in the future
- 20 hours of hazardous materials training
- 16 hours of safety and orientation
